Coronavirus: KKM Mencatat Kes Pertama di Malaysia

[Malaysiakini}- Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia mengesan kes jangkitan novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) yang pertama di negara ini.

Menteri Kesihatan Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad berkata ujian pengesanan dan pengesahan melibatkan tiga individu itu diperolehi dari pihak Makmal Kesihatan Awam Kebangsaan (MKAK) Sungai Buloh lewat malam semalam.

Beliau memberitahu sidang akhbar bahawa tiga pesakit itu mempunyai kaitan dengan bapa dan anak dari Wuhan, China, yang telah disahkan positif dengan virus itu di Singapura tiga hari lalu.

“Tiga kes positif adalah isteri lelaki berusia 66 tahun yang diuji positif di Singapura pada 22 Jan, dan dua cucu mereka berumur 11 dan 2 tahun.

“Mereka melancong dalam kumpulan 10 orang dari Wuhan, sebelum kedua-dua lelaki itu ditahan dan diuji positif di Singapura.

“Berikutan itu, lapan orang yang tidak menunjukan sebarang gejala telah dibebaskan oleh Kementerian Kesihatan Singapura (KKS) dan mereka datang ke Johor Bahru pada 23 Jan.

“Kami dimaklumkan oleh KKS dan segera menempatkan lapan individu itu, dan mengasingkan mereka untuk pemeriksaan,” kata Dzulkefly kepada media.

Menurutnya, keputusan ujian lapan individu itu diperoleh lewat malam tadi, dan pihak berkuasa kesihatan telah membawa dua kanak-kanak itu dan nenek mereka ke Hospital Sungai Buloh untuk dimasukkan ke wad pengasingan.

Ibu kanak-kanak itu, yang berumur 36 tahun, telah disahkan positif tetapi turut dibawa ke hospital untuk menjaga anak-anaknya di bawah pengawasan ketat.

Dzulkefly berkata empat pelancong lain yang ujian mereka negatif adalah pasangan suami isteri dan dua anak mereka. Mereka telah meninggalkan negara ini pagi tadi untuk kembali ke China.

Sementara itu, ditanya sama ada KKM mempunyai data mengenai bilangan pelawat dari Wuhan yang berada di Malaysia atau jumlah individu yang telah melawat ibu kota wilayah Hubei itu baru-baru ini, menteri itu berkata mereka perlu berhubung dengan Jabatan Imigresen.

Beliau berkata mereka bagaimanapun mempunyai data mengenai individu yang baru-baru ini melawat Wuhan yang mendapatkan rawatan di hospital dalam negara ini.

Menurut Dzulkefly, sejak 22 Jan, mereka telah menemui 11 suspek kes 2019-nCov di negara ini, tetapi 10 telah disahkan sebagai negatif.

Mereka adalah tujuh rakyat Malaysia yang baru-baru ini mengunjungi China, dua warga China dari Wuhan, dan seorang warga Jordan.

“Ujian yang keputusannya masih belum diperoleh melibatkan seorang rakyat Malaysia, yang baru-baru ini mengunjungi China.

“Dia kini ditahan di Hospital Kuala Lumpur,” katanya.

Dzulkefly tidak memberikan butiran lanjut mengenai identiti individu yang disyaki dijangkiti virus berkenaan, namun berjanji akan mengemaskini maklumat kepada media dari semasa ke semasa.

The Harbin International Ice Festival is one of world’s four biggest ice and snow festivals, along with the famous ones in Sapporo, Norway, and Quebec. Harbin is called “Ice City”, and the winters are bitterly cold, but the conditions are right for the ice festival.

Earthquake Hit Yunnan, China, 391 Killed

At least 391 people were killed by an earthquake that struck Yunnan, China on Sunday afternoon.

About 1,891 others were injured by the quake that struck about 11km (7 miles) north-west of Wenping in Yunnan province at 16:30 local time (08:30 GMT) on Sunday.

About 12,000 homes collapsed while 30,000 others were damaged during the disaster.

The quake was the strongest to hit Yunnan in 14 yea rs.

Together with all those affected by the MH370 incident, we understand the need to provide regular updates on the progress of the search and rescue operations. As the hours turn into days, we at Malaysia Airlines are similarly anxious and we appreciate the patience, support and prayers from everyone.

We however acknowledge that the most affected group in this incident is the families of those on-board. As such, our primary focus at this point in time is to care for the families. This means providing them with timely information, travel facilities, accommodation, meals and emotional support. Initial financial assistance has been given out to all families. Caregivers are already assigned to each family and they are trained staff and volunteers from Malaysia and Australia.

Family members of the MH370 passengers from Beijing who wish to travel will be flown in stages to Kuala Lumpur on the available flights. We are also communicating with the families from other nations to similarly arrange for their travel to Kuala Lumpur.

In the event flight MH370 is located, a Response Control Centre (RCC) in the area will be activated to support the needs of families.

The airline continues to work with the authorities and we appreciate the help we are receiving from all parties during this critical and difficult time.

Malaysia Airlines 5th Media Statement on MH370 Flight Incident – March 8, 7:20 PM MYT +0800

Sepang, 8 March 2014:  The families of all passengers on board MH370 are being informed. The flight was carrying a total number of 239 passengers and crew – comprising 227 passengers (including 2 infants) and 12 crew members.

An international search and rescue mission was mobilized this morning. At this stage, our search and rescue teams from Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam have failed to find evidence of any wreckage.

The sea mission will continue while the air mission will recommence at daylight.

MAS 4th Media Statement on MH370 Flight Incident – March 8, 04:20 PM MYT +0800

Below is the official statement from Malaysia Airlines regarding flight MH370. 

Sepang, 8 March 2014: Malaysia Airlines is still unable to establish any contact or determine the whereabouts of flight MH370. Earlier today, Subang ATC had lost contact with the aircraft at 2.40am. The last known position of MH370 before it disappeared off the radar was 065515 North (longitude) and 1033443 East (latitude).

We are still trying to locate the current location of the flight based on the last known position of the aircraft. We are working with the International search and rescue teams in trying to locate the aircraft. So far, we have not received any emergency signals or distress messages from MH370. We are working with authorities and assure that all sources are deployed to assist with the search and rescue mission. 

The passenger manifest will not be released until all families of the passengers have been informed. The flight was carrying a total number of 239 passengers and crew – comprising 227 passengers (including 2 infants) and 12 crew members.

We are deploying our “Go Team” to Beijing which will depart Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 4.30pm with a team of caregivers and volunteers to assist the family members of the passengers.

The passengers are of 14 different nationalities. All crew on-board are Malaysians.

Please take note that the earlier statement did not include the number of Indian nationals. This was due to confusion between the country code of Indonesia and India.

MAS 3rd Media Statement on MH370 Flight Incident – March 8, 10:30 AM MYT +0800

Malaysia Airlines MH370 made the last radar contact at 120 nautical miles from Kota Bharu.

Below is the official statement from Malaysia Airlines regarding flight MH370. 

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are deeply saddened this morning with the news on MH370.

Malaysia Airlines confirms that flight MH370 had lost contact with Subang Air Traffic Control at 2.40am, today. There has been speculation that the aircraft has landed at Nanming. We are working to verify the authenticity of the report and others.

Flight MH370 was operated on a Boeing 777-200 aircraft. It departed Kuala Lumpur at 12.41 am earlier this morning bound for Beijing. The aircraft was scheduled to land at Beijing International Airport at 6.30am local Beijing time. 

The flight was carrying a total number of 239 passengers and crew – comprising 227 passengers (including 2 infants), 12 crew members. The passengers were of 14 different nationalities – citizens from:-

 

1.    China – 152 plus 1 infant

2.    Malaysia – 38

3.    Indonesia – 12

4.    Australia – 7

5.    France – 3

6.    United States of America – 3 pax plus 1 infant

7.    New Zealand – 2

8.    Ukraine – 2

9.    Canada – 2

10.  Russia – 1

11.  Italy – 1

12.  Taiwan – 1

13.  Netherlands – 1

This flight was a code share with China Southern Airlines.

We are working with authorities who have activated their Search and Rescue team to locate the aircraft.

Our team is currently calling the next-of-kin of passengers and crew.

The flight was piloted by Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, a Malaysian aged 53. He has a total flying hours of 18,365hours. He joined Malaysia Airlines in 1981. First officer, Fariq Ab.Hamid, a Malaysian, is aged 27. He has a total flying hours of 2,763 hours. He joined Malaysia Airlines in 2007.

Our focus now is to work with the emergency responders and authorities and mobilize its full support. Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected passengers and crew and their family members.

Lao Airlines Flight QV301 Crashed, 49 Killed

Lao Airlines plane crashed into the Mekong River in the southern city of Pakse, near the border with Thailand, just before 16:00 (ICT) on Wednesday.

Lao Airlines Flight QV301 crashed in the Mekong River, killing all 49 passengers and crews.

The state-run Lao Airlines said in a statement that the plane took off from the capital Vientiane and “ran into extreme bad weather conditions” as it prepared to land at Pakse Airport.

AP reported that 17 of the victims were from Lao, seven from France, five were from Australia five from Thailand, three from Korea, two from Vietnam and one person each from Canada, China, Malaysia, Taiwan and the United States.

The airline said it had yet to determine reasons for the crash of the ATR-72 aircraft which was virtually new and had just been delivered in March.
